New York, NY
About the Play:
Darling is an original short play inspired by J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. The play follows Wendy Darling as a teenager in modern day London as her and her family cope with their mother's illness. The mythology of the Peter Pan tale is rekindled in the Darling nursery once newcomer Davy moves in next door. A modern fairytale about growing up, family and the ability to open the window and remembering to fly.
Darling premiered as a staged reading at the Centre for Social Innovation in NYC in 2014. Later that year, Darling flew over to Hyde Park Books in Boise, ID for another reading as part of the Blip! series with HomeGrown Theatre.
Darling ended the year as a full production as part of the innaugural season of the New York New Works Theatre Festival. Playing to sold-out houses and a judges panel, Darling made it to the semi-finals of the festival.
